As part of the 2019 ŠKODA brand campaign, Fallon London asked 6 artists to cover Sammy Davis Jr's "I've Gotta Be Me": Paloma Faith, Alexis Ffrench, Lady Leshurr, The Sherlocks and The Kingdom Choir. I was tasked with creating vinyl artwork to run alongside the TV slot and OOH campaign as a promotional and PR piece. The art direction was based around reflection - looking at yourself in the mirror and declaring: I've Gotta Be Me. Fragmented shards of glass reflected the image of the artists, with the fragments showing forms and shapes with a personal meaning to each artist - e.g. a dove for Paloma Faith, representing her back tattoo. We shot these portraits alongside the TV campaign, allowing colours from the sets to bleed through to give each a distinctive look. Within each shard, the portraits were distorted and changed slightly to create an illusion of movement and expression. The main album cover used reflective silver paper with the type set simply over the top, whilst individual covers for each artist showed their fragmented glass portrait overlaid with silver reflective type. The typeface used was ŠKODA Next Expanded.
